Avifauna of the city of General Pico, La Pampa, Argentina: new records, distributions and nesting evidence for the province

Abstract

We present the bird list of General Pico city, La Pampa, Argentina. We made the list from the compilation and organization of the information obtained in different field trips between 2009 and 2023. We also added data previously reported in the literature and in citizen science platforms. In addition, we included in the list breeding species. In total, we recorded 235 species for General Pico city, 4 of which are new species for the province of La Pampa, we expanded the distribution of some species, and obtained new nesting records for the Pampas territory. We think that this list is a very valuable contribution, since it highlights the importance of preserving natural environments, such as wetlands or remnants of grasslands present in the city.
