Second documented record of Sanderling (Calidris alba), in Ullum, San Juan, Argentina

Abstract

In Argentina, the Sanderling (Calidris alba) is mainly found in the coastal region, but several individuals have been observed further inland in Mendoza, Córdoba, San Luis, Formosa, Misiones, Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Santa Fé, La Pampa, and Neuquén. In San Juan, it is a rare species and categorized as a "summer visitor". Here we present the second record with photographs of Sanderling for the province of San Juan, and the first in the Ullum department.
