Abstract

Records are presented for four new bird species (Buff-fronted Owl, Aegolius harrisii; Mouse-colored Tyrannulet, Phaeomyias murina and Orange-backed Troupial, Icterus croconotus) or with few citations (Greenish Elaenia, Myiopagis viridicata) for the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. Records of Buff-fronted Owl and Mouse-colored Tyrannulet extend the southern limit of distribution of these species in the Humid Chaco ecoregion, thus including the province of Santa Fe. Regarding the Orange-backed Troupial, the observation was performed in an environment consistent with its natural habitat but the record could also correspond to an individual released from captivity. In the case of Greenish Elaenia, the species had already been recorded in the province, although this article provides a new locality further away from the Paraná River. All the new records were performed in environments of the Humid Chaco, highlighting the importance of continuing the study of the biodiversity of this ecoregion in the province of Santa Fe.
