Abstract
The Plain Tyrannulet (Inezia inornata) is a small inhabitant of Chaco forests. The 1st of December of 2019, I found a Plain Tyrannulet in the Nhú-Porã district, São Borja, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. I also took pictures and recorded the vocalizations of this individual. The bird was on the border of a forest near the floodplain of the Butuí-mirim stream, a tributary of the Butuí river. This is the first record for both this state and region of Brazil. It is worth noting that the Plain Tyrannulet can go unnoticed because it is cryptic and very similar to other tyrannulets, especially those of the genus Serpophaga. Therefore, my study opens up the possibility that this species is present in this state for a longer time than previously considered.
