Abstract
The Black Chested Buzzard Eagle (Geranoaetus melanoleucus) ranges from Venezuela to Argentina. Its diet is varied, indicating a high capacity to adapt to the available food resources. The Upland Goose (Chloephaga picta) is endemic to Patagonia. The distribution ranges of both species overlap completely in this region. The objective of this work was to contribute information on the Black Chested Buzzard Eagle’s diet and, simultaneously, on the Upland Geese predator’s assemblage. In 2015 and 2019, we observed two predation events of Black Chested Buzzard Eagle on adult Upland Geese individuals. These observations were made in Tierra del Fuego and Santa Cruz, Argentina. Our records confirm that the Black Chested Buzzard Eagle is a native predator of geese.
