Abstract
The Yellow Cardinal (Gubernatrix cristata) is endemic to southern South America. Currently, the species is categorized as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. In this study, we present observations and records of the Yellow Cardinal in the Punta Bermeja Protected Natural Area, Río Negro, Argentina, during two breeding seasons. We found the nest settled on a Pinus halepensis and recorded the number of clutches per season, the size of each clutch, and the number of fledglings that ultimately left the nest. In total, we recorded three clutches, from which seven fledglings successfully left the nest. Our work represents the first record for the species of two successful clutches during the same season and the first record of nesting for this natural area.
