New localities and extension in the distribution of Passeriformes in the province of Corrientes, Argentina

Abstract

The avifauna of the province of Corrientes is relatively well known in terms of its composition; however, there are still large information gaps with respect to distribution, phenology, and natural history of many species. We made 24 trips to search for and study little-known or threatened species. We found 9 passerines whose distribution in Corrientes province remains poorly known.  We present new localities, and discuss the status and phenology of the following species: Streaked Xenops (Xenops rutilans), Black-crowned Tityra (Tityra inquisitor), Black-tailed Tityra (Tityra cayana), Chestnud-crowned Becard (Pachyramphus castaneus), Yellow-olive Flycatcher (Tolmomyias sulphurescens), Greenish Elaenia (Myiopagis viridicata), Yellow Tyrannulet (Capsiempis flaveola), Creamy-bellied Gnatcatcher (Polioptila lactea), Uniform Finch (Haplospiza unicolor).
