Resumen
El Tangará Cabeza Celeste (Chlorophonia cyanocephala) es una especie de amplia distribución en Sudamérica. No obstante, es poco lo que se sabe de su reproducción. En Argentina, hasta el presente no se conoce ningún registro de nidificación. Este trabajo aporta información sobre la biología reproductiva y documenta fotográficamente un nido hallado en setiembre de 2022 en la ciudad de Chajarí, Provincia de Entre Ríos, Argentina. El nido estaba ubicado a 8,36 m de altura en un Jacarandá (Jacaranda mimosifolia) de la Plaza Urquiza de dicha ciudad. La pareja demoró seis días en su construcción. La hembra fue la encargada de la incubación que duró 13-14 días. Ambos integrantes de la pareja intervinieron en la alimentación de los pichones, aunque la hembra fue quien permaneció mayor tiempo en el nido. Hicimos el seguimiento hasta el octavo día de cuidado, cuando sólo notamos la presencia del macho y ausencia de la hembra, posible víctima de un predador. Al cesar toda actividad, accedimos al interior del nido y documentamos un pichón muerto, con el esófago lleno de frutos de Phoradendron quadrangulare. La especie se ha propuesto como un migrante invernal en el este de Argentina, y los registros aquí publicados demostrarían que, al menos, una parte de la población reside y nidifica.
