Abstract

The Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) is a cosmopolitan raptor belonging to the order Falconiforme. Their ecology and diet are relatively well known, but most of the knowledge on comes from studies carried out in the Nearctic region. Although members of the Apodidae family have been associated as part of the Peregrine Falcon’s diet in other countries, there are still no records confirming these interactions in Argentina. On the 22nd March 2018, a Peregrine Falcon was observed capturing an Andean Swift (Aeronautes andecolus) in the Cerro Blanco Private Reserve, Córdoba Province, Argentina. This report constitutes the first record of predation of the Peregrine Falcon on the Andean Swift for the province and for the entire country as well, opening new questions regarding this trophic interaction and its effect on the populations’ dynamics of both species.
