The Streamer-tailed Tyrant (Gubernetes yetapa) in the provinces of Chaco and Formosa, Argentina: review and discussion of records in the eastern Chaco region

Abstract

The Streamer-tailed Tyrant (Gubernetes yetapa) was first recorded in the Humid Chaco of Argentina more than a century ago, and most 20th-century ornithological studies included the species in this ecoregion. However, several recent publications have omitted this information. In this study, we discuss these omissions, compile the existing records, and report two new localities for the Humid Chaco. Most of the records correspond to solitary individuals, which suggests that they may be dispersing individuals that reach the ecoregion in small numbers during the cold and dry season.
