Abstract

We present 18 records of chromatic aberrations in birds in Argentina, detected between 2019 and 2025, through the compilation of photographs from members of COA Capuchino Caraguatá from Santa Fe province. The most frequent anomalies were leucism and progressive depigmentation. Dilution, xanthochroism and eumelanism were also detected. The first records of partial leucism in West Peruvian Dove (Zenaida meloda) and Campo Flicker (Colaptes campestris), progressive graying in White-winged Coot (Fulica leucoptera), eumelanism in Rufous Hornero (Furnarius rufus) and xanthochroism in Grey-hooded Parakeet (Psilopsiagon aymara) and Chestnut-capped Blackbird (Chrysomus ruficapillus) are reported. These records contribute to the knowledge of novel phenotypes of aberrant birds in Argentina.
