Abstract
The Striped Owl (Asio clamator) belongs to the Strigidae Family and is uncommon in Argentine Patagonia, with local and scattered records. This note presents the first record of its presence and nesting in Chubut province, Argentina, extending its distribution 280 km southward. This finding adds a new owl species to the assemblage of Strigiformes in the province and suggests a possible recent southward expansion of the range of the Striped Owl, possibly facilitated by anthropogenic environmental changes.
