Abstract
The Crested Oropendola (Psarocolius decumanus) in Argentina has a distribution associated with the humid forests of the Yungas and the Paranaense forest. In recent years, its range has shown signs of expansion in both ecoregions. In northwestern Argentina, this expansion is evidenced by new records in Tucumán and, more recently, in Catamarca. In Catamarca, the species was observed for the first time in 2023 and again in 2025, when photographic and audio records documented its presence. This finding constitutes the first documented record for Catamarca, providing evidence of the species’ range expansion and contributing to our understanding of its distribution in northwestern Argentina.
