Abstract
In this work, I present relevant records of 15 bird species for the avifauna of the Tarijeño Chaco (Tarija, Bolivia), aiming to contribute to the knowledge and conservation of the birds in this important ecoregion, which is part of the priority areas of the Gran Chaco Sudamericano. Of the 15 observed species, eight (53.3%) are considered non-breeding migrants or transient visitors to southern Bolivia, while the remaining seven (46.7%) are residents. Our records are part of various biodiversity projects conducted since 2007 in the natural environments of the Chaco region of Tarija. I mapped additional records through the analysis of available information on citizen science platforms, which have seen a significant increase in records in recent years due to photographs provided by birdwatchers. Including these records in this work highlights the importance of this information for deepening our understanding of local wild birds and gaining a better perspective on their distribution in the Chaco of Tarija.
