Status of the Grey-headed Burlisto (Attila phoenicurus) in Argentina and Paraguay: Review and contributions to knowledge on distribution, natural history and habitat

Abstract

The Grey-headed Burlisto (Attila phoenicurus) is a flycatcher considered "Insufficiently Known" in Argentina and potentially threatened in Paraguay. We present and review the historical information in the two countries, we discuss doubtful records, and based on more than 20 years of fieldwork in northeastern Argentina, we discuss the situation in the region. We present records in seven new locations in the province of Misiones, we contribute to the knowledge about natural history, evaluating and proposing the conservation status of the species in Argentina, which would be related to the situation in Paraguay.
